THE MAJOR ROLE OF WATER ON EARTH

In my previous article, i wrote about the cycle of water. Now i want to write about the important role that water has. Water is indispensable. It is an essential ingredient for all living things on earth, and without water, no life would exist.Water bodies like sea, lakes and ponds are home to thousands of creatures.

Life on earth absolutely depends on water.
Every living organism on the face of the Earth relies on water for survival, from the smallest microorganism to the largest mammal, according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Some organisms are made up of 95 percent water, and almost all organisms are made of at least 50 percent water, according to National Geographic for Kids.

All oxygen-dependent organisms need water to aid in the respiration process; some organisms, such as fish, cannot breathe outside its presence, while other organisms need water to help break down food molecules or generate energy during the respiration process. According to Chemistry for Biologists, water is also used to help regulate metabolism and dissolve compounds going into or out of the body.

In human beings, water helps with transporting and replenishing nutrients. It helps with cleansing the human body.

The human body is made up of approximately 60 percent water, and about 99 percent of molecules in cells are water ,as it is in most mammalian organisms, and comprises major parts of the blood serum, tissues and organs,it is used for tasks such as regulating chemical reactions, acting as a solvent, eliminating waste materials and maintaining cellular composition. Dehydration, caused from lack of necessary water, can lead to severe medical issues and if prolonged can cause death in plants and animals.

The importance of water does not stop at an organism, but it also has some special properties that make it essential for life on Earth.
